Week Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen.

The last week in Dharamsala was a very laid back and enjoyable one. We (Katie, Julie and I) left for Delhi on New Years Eve. Apart from wispering "Happy New Years" to the Indian man next to me, this year started without too much fuss.

Matt finally arrived on the 4th, approaching midnight. Since then we have explored Moghul architecture around Delhi, beautiful Desert Palaces and forts in Bundi, British/Indian Independence history in Lucknow, and of course the ghats and old city in the famed spiritual captial/oldest-inhabited-city, Varanasi.

I hope everyone back home had a wonderful New Year, and I hope I meet everyone from Dharamsala again!

ps: the photos are out of order, but the internet connection is too slow for me to fix it. Sorry! I'll do my best to explain each photo.
Dec 31 - Julie, Katie and I at the bus stand, leaving Dharamsala.

Jan 3 - Ruins in Delhi

Jan 4 - Everyone in an bicycle rickshaw!

Jan 4 - Rachel, Katie and I at the entrance of the Red Fort, Delhi

Jan 4 - Marble artificial waterfall (without water) in Red Fort

Jan 3 - Jama Masjid, the Great Mosque in Delhi. Julie and I were unfortunately forced to wear a hideous outfit in order to be dressed appropriate. I managed to avoid this fate when I returned the next day with Matt.

Humayun's Tomb, Delhi.

Jan 5 - a beautiful bird in Humayun's tomb.

Jan 5- One more shot of Humayun's tomb. I can't believe it isn't as busy as the Taj Mahal, it is just as beautiful!

A train-side view, with Matt.

Matt and I on the train. Our 4th trip is tomorrow, Varanasi to Kolkata!

Jan 7 - Entrance to the Palace in Bundi. Check out those elephants!

Jan 7 - Might as well be India's golden rule.

More of the Palace in Bundi.

A wall mural in the palace in Bundi. It depicts the sneaky God Krishna in the act of stealing all the women's Saris while they were bathing, and hiding them in tree!

Jan 7 - Me by a large tree in Bundi.

View of Bundi from the fort.

Jan 10 - At the residency in Lucknow, where the First War of Independence started in India. While it happened 150 years ago, you can still see the bullet holes in the walls.

The residency continued.

Dec 31 - Everything I own, all packed up and waiting to leave Dharamsala!

Dec 31 - The last walk around the Kora (the path around the Dalai Lamas temple).

Jan 2- The Janter Manter in Delhi - they are oversized astronomical tools, but please don't ask me how they work. I'd imagine there is too much smog in Delhi for them to ever work again!

Jan 3 - Breakfast in Delhi, knitting!
